In a sense I think it’s true that things will never be the same as they were. But in another sense, I think things will always be what they were. See, I used to think that when I left people I would lose them - as if the only life that existed occurred in the moment, and nothing before or after really “counted.” But I think I have an increasing appreciation for the value of memories. See, even with the people I see on a daily basis, most of my relationship with them is based on memories of what we did last week, or yesterday, or four minutes. Moments only mean anything because of the past. It’s not for nothing that we call all our best moments in life “making memories”.
